Veterans seeking care at the VA hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. now have a place to stay for free. Backers of the new Defenders Lodge say it's the solution for 11,000 veteran out patients and their families. The Department of Veterans Affairs partnered with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation to build the lodge. Christopher Flynn is the PenFed Foundation's president and CEO.

Revelations about the scope of the National Security Agency's surveillance programs have made even the staunchest supporters question whether the government has gone too far in the name of counterterrorism. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) sponsored the Patriot Act, which broadened the NSA's authority to snoop. He explains why he's introducing a bill to amend the law. The legislation will focus on controversial Section 215.
