The Homeland Security Department has created a task force to develop future workers. It will consider expanding DHS' involvement in cyber competitions and university programs, enhancing public-private partnerships and working with other agencies.

It's part of the Homeland Security Advisory Council.

Secretary Janet Napolitano described the task force in a meeting with industry representatives at the White House. The department's cybersecurity division has grown six-fold over the past four years.

A House panel yesterday approved more than $500 million more for DHS cybersecurity initiatives, including Einstein and a new continuous-monitoring program, both of which protect federal networks.
